Last week we got an invite to a very special event hosted by Team Hölle at Caseking in Berlin. The event was the unveiling of the HMX2 (Höllenmaschine), a high-end gaming PC that will leave you drooling when you read its specs. The only thing sexier on the day was Der8auer’s custom wrap on his Nissan GTR!

Casewho?

For those of you who have never heard of Caseking, they are one of the biggest PC retailers in Germany, but what really sets them apart from the competition is the fact that they build really sexy high-end gaming PCs. Chatting to their main high-end system builder Tom Hartung, he mentioned that Caseking sells over 2500 high-end gaming PCs (€10,000 – €20,000) a year in Germany alone. They also sell these sweet systems across Europe and their work and service is second to none in Germany. I buy a lot of hardware from them and I love visiting their store in Berlin whenever I can. But enough about Caseking, let’s get down to the sexy build that is the HMX2.

What are the specs of the HMX2?

The specs are far from your everyday PC and most of us can only dream of owning a gaming rig like this as it has an eye watering €10,000 price tag ($11,250). But, the €10,000 is just a theoretical price tag as this PC is not for sale, no it’s part of a giveaway by the guys at PC-Welt in Germany. They are one of the oldest magazines in Germany that cover PC hardware and all things technology and they do a giveaway like this every year. So without further ado, here are the specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU – More Info
2x Nvidia Titan RTX GPUs (yes two Titans) – More Info
ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula motherboard – More Info
64GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4-4000 RAM (16GB modules)- More Info
2x Corsair MP600 1TB NVMe SSDs (for a total of 2TB) – More Info
Seasonic PRIME TX-1600 (not officially launched yet) – More Info
A super limited InWin 928 case – More Info
Custom water cooled loop with EK hardware – More Info

The finer details of the HMX2

Now the guys from Team Hölle said that this is the first Höllenmaschine that they have built with an AMD processor in over a decade, and for good reason, the Zen 2 line-up is seriously impressive and has lit the fire under Intel’s ass. But they didn’t stop there, the Ryzen 9 3900X has been tweaked by the world famous overclocker, Der8auer. Yup, the overclocking genius Der8auer was also involved in this build and if anyone can squeeze out every last drop of performance out of the 3900X and those Titans, it will be Roman Hartung (Der8auer). Talking about Titans, the HMX2 features two, yes two Nvidia Titan RTX, that’s a whopping $5000 for the GPUs alone. While they are way more powerful than the RTX 2080 Ti, they do not offer that much more performance when it comes to gaming. However, where these cards shine is in processing work. Yes, these bad boys come with 24GB of GDDR6 memory each, that’s more than double that of the flagship RTX 2080 Ti. To make sure that they got the best possible performance out of the CPU and GPU, they went for a newly released ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Formula X570 motherboard. This thing is suüper impressive and for the price that ASUS commands for it, it’s nothing short of being part the crème Del le crème of the top tier motherboards on the market.

You won’t be running out of memory with Google Chrome as this beast has a beefy 64GB of RAM and far exceeds the standard of 16GB that most users need and use in 2019. Added to this, these bad boys offer fully controllable RGB lighting so that you can make the RAM modules look like unicorn puke or an 80s disco dance floor. The two Corsair MP600 offer plenty of storage space and thanks to PCI Gen4 and the X570 chipset you can expect to reach the advertised read and write speeds of these drives (4,950MB/sec read and 4,250MB/sec write speeds).

The case is another masterpiece from the guys at InWin and weighs in at a hefty 27.63kg (60.91lb) without any hardware in it. The guys from Team Hölle have once again added some custom work to the case, which include laser etching the HMX2 logo onto the tempered glass panel, they added a custom basement which they cut and backlit the HMX2 name into, and added a custom flame motive panel to hold the horizontal reservoirs for the cooling loop. Finally we come to the water cooling hardware. This is all thanks to the guys at EK, who make some of the finest parts that you can buy when you are building your own water cooling system. The two 360mm radiators ensure that the heat from the 12-core 3900X and those beefy Titan RTX cards are dissipated ASAP, keeping the system nice and cool under load. Added to this, Tom from Caseking worked his magic to bend all the hardline tubes to perfection and you can really tell that he is a true master craftsman in his own right.

HMX2 Gewinnspiel

All-and-all this PC is a masterpiece from all those involved in the building of it. Sure there was a hiccup with the RGB lighting, as someone forgot to install the software needed to control the RGB lighting and the WiFi drivers to quickly download the said software from the net. Though this did not dampen the mood for all the fans who joined the unveiling, the few minutes delay was spent talking to the guys from Team Hölle, Tom, Roman and the other guests (DasMonty and Zenchilli – both of their channels are in German). Now if you are in Europe and you want to enter this competition then all you have to do is head to the PC-Welt website here and enter the competition via the Gleam form at the bottom of the page.
