Last year we got a glimpse at BioWare’s upcoming Anthem game. Though that was pretty much all we heard from them for the whole of 2017. We didn’t even get a scheduled release date or even a year from them, however, this all changed at EA’s E3 2018 press conference.

The new cinematic trailer is nothing short of beautiful and while it doesn’t actually show any gameplay footage, it does take a deeper look at the games monsters and the world that they live in. Much like its competitor Destiny, Anthem is an online, co-op shooter with an emphasis on RPG gameplay mechanics. You play the role of warriors known as Freelancers (original, I know) and must work together with other Freelancers to explore uncharted worlds and fight to protect humanity. Freelancers wear special customizable exo-suits called Javelins, which can be outfitted with a variety of different weapons and special abilities. The Javelins fall into four different categories, which determine a player’s role.

EA revealed that Anthem will be releasing on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on February 22, 2019. At E3, members of BioWare team sat down for a quick Q&A about their upcoming shooter, and we got a short demo of the game that will be releasing next winter.
